The Dance Before Christmas

  • The Strand Theatre 210 Main Street Hudson Falls United States (map)

Hudson River Music Hall Productions in collaboration with New York Dance Project (NYDP), Pamara Perry and local dance company, Reality Dance, presents Dance Before Christmas featuring Pamara
Perry’s original ballet “The Night Before Christmas,” at The Strand Theatre located at 210 Main St, Hudson Falls, NY on Sunday, Dec, 1st at 5:30pm. Tickets are available by calling the theatre at
(518) 832-3484 and are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $12 for students. Proceeds from the performance are to benefit the Strand Theater Revival in Hudson Falls, NY and New York Dance Project to bring professional dance programming and education to the Southern Adirondack region of New York State.
The first half of the program will offer a mixed repertoire featuring dancers from New York Dance Project, under Artistic Direction of Davis Robertson, who will perform an original work by Mr. Roberston titled Sonnenaufgang (Sunrise) to music by Joseph Haydn. The piece explores the musical motifs which emerge and re-emerge, in altered instrumentation, throughout the Hayden score. The unpredictability of our times and working with the young dancers of NYDP inspired movement with moments of physical conflict that eventually resolve harmoniously, through a playful melding of dance languages. The second half of the program will feature Pamara Perry’s original ballet based on the poem The Night Before Christmas, written by Clement C. Moore. In the tradition of ballet, Pamara Perry, former principal dancer of the Joffrey Ballet, and Artistic Director for over 30 years of the former local dance school Adriondack Repertory Dance Theatre (ARDT), has graciously given her ballet created for ARDT, to Davis Roberston (former fellow Joffrey Ballet member) to bring this well loved timeless local classic back to the stage at the newly renovated Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls, NY. This piece will merge the talents of select local dancers from Reality Dance under the artistic direction of Caroline Beatty with the professional dancers from New York Dance Project (NYPD) under the artistic direction of Davis Roberston. Pamara Perry will also be choreographing a new piece within the show on her former student, guest artist Cassidy Jane M. Prince, who recently signed her first professional contract with Carolina Ballet. The Night Before Christmas will be narrated by the Reverend Richard W. Corney, who like Clement C. Moore, also taught Hebrew at The General Theological Seminary in New York City. Also, as in years past, there will be a very special appearance by a jolly friend to all.
The entire program will be performed to live musical accompaniment with Jonathan Newell on piano and Taconic Strings.
