Al and Kathy Bain are well known for the duo-style traditional country, bluegrass and golspel muisic filled with vocal harmony and humor. Al's thumbpicking style guitar and banjo with Kathy on the upright bass complete their sound.
The Bain's roots are in the Northeast but they have performed extensively throughout the south and as far west as Las Vegas.
As regulars on the WWVA Whelling Jamoree in west Virginia for over 30 years, they have recently returned to help revive that program. The Bains were honored to be part of the many shows at the Mountain View, Arkansas Ozark Folk Center, and the Central City Kentucky Everly Brothers Homecoming. They recently performed at the Pennington Festival in Priceton Kentucky along with Eddie Pennington and his family, Charlie McCoy and Tommy emmanuel.
The Bains have received many awards from the Northeast CMA in albany NY for male and female vocalist, Pioneer, Song of the Year, Songwriter, and the Entertainer of The Year. They have individually been named members of the NYS Country Hall of Fame at Cortland NY.
