Under the Porchlights 4…. Storytelling at The Strand

  • Strand Theatre 210 Main Street Hudson Falls, NY, 12839 (map)

Hudson River Music Hall Productions will present its next edition of its original program “Under the Porchlights 4…. Storytelling at The Strand”  on Saturday August 16, at 2 pm and at 7 pm.

The Caravan Players, the HRMHP’s house theatre group, has created 2 separate presentations inspired by two popular NPR radio programs, “Selected Shorts” and “The Moth Radio Hour.”

The theme of this 4th edition program is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of The New Yorker Magazine.

Each program will feature some of the 14 different local performers reading a favorite work of fiction or non-fiction written by a writer featured in its magazine.  A few of these writers include John Updike, Joyce Carol Oats, Ray Bradbury, James Thurber, Dashiell Hammett, Simon Rich, and Dave Barry.

In addition, 4 other performers will retell a personal real-life event.  In both presentations, all performers will take theater-goers on a separate journey, transporting them in his or her own way through life's many pathways.

The HRMHP’s Caravan Players invites neighbors and friends to stop by, “Sit a Spell," and enjoy a beverage & snack as we share new and favorite stories & personal tales.

Storytellers include:  Phil Jessen, Nick Buttino, Garrett West, Dan Herlihy, Rene' Roberge, Father Tony Childs, Kim Fitzpatrick, Pamela Roberge, Jennifer Madison, Kellie Fitzpatrick, Lisa Holstein-Wells, and Shelby Brown.  In addition, 2 high school students join the Caravan Players as presenters—Griffin Geer and Trey Ayala.

“Under the Porchlights 4….Storytelling at The Strand” is conceived  by Caravan Players’ Director, Rene' Roberge.  Technical help is provided by Strand volunteers, as well as Executive Assistant KC Morgan,  Business Manager Nick Buttino, and HRMHP Executive Director, Jonathan Newell.

Your one-time suggested donation of $10(cash or check only) at the door before each program allows you entrance to attend one or both programs.  No reservations are necessary.  CDC health guidelines will be observed.
